Bonjour. There is ou there are  exprime la présence ou l'absence de quelqu'un ou de quelque chose .
 
There is + singulier.  Ex: There is a little bird.
 
There are + pluriel.  Ex: There are two bad boys.
 
Cette construction existe à tous les temps :
Il suffit de mettre « be » au temps qui convient.
 
There is a dog
There was a cat
There has been a horse
There will be a lion
There would be a fish 


 
 

  There peut être  suivi d'un auxiliaire modal + « be »
 Ex. : There must be a solution. 
    

  There est suivi de « be » au singulier si le premier mot de la suite énumérée est singulier.

Ex. : There is a boy, two babies and a dog in my garden.

Accord avec 'a boy' qui est le plus proche dans l'énumération.



  There est suivi de « be » au pluriel si le premier mot de la suite énumérée est au pluriel.
           
            Ex. : There are two babies, a boy, a girl and a dog in my garden.


 


 

 

 Lorsque There is ou There are   est suivi d'un nom + un verbe, celui-ci est à la forme Base verbale + –ing.

Ex. : There was a clown looking at me.

Il y avait une réunion hier !

Il y a un homme qui me regarde. Penses-tu qu'il me connaît ?

Il y a deux chiens et un chat dans cette maison.

Il y avait beaucoup d'oiseaux dans le jardin il y a deux jours.


10. There have beenhas beenJe ne sais pas several books left in that library, they are very expensive.
Il reste plusieurs livres dans cette bibliothèque. Ils sont très chers.
